As soon as the first day begins, the general scenery sets in : sea on the bottom, mountains on top. The first tracks make possible to be quietly familiarized with your mount. The Pass of Castillon passed, we start to climb the mountain in order to pass the border. : sweet transition from civilization to the scrubland ! It’s the whole Riviera which reveals its architecture because Menton, Monaco and even Nice, at the horizon, are connected in the landscape. We cross the border by a cow path, and start our descent to Torri, our first stop
Torri / Col de Brouis
Border crosses, we’re starking our discovery trip of Liguria. We pass throught the first mountain on top of the sea and visit few medieval villages : Villatella, Torri, Collabassa. We join them by the mountain, where no one seems to have passed for a long time. A beautiful track call for good gaits during the afternoon, it leads us to Olivetta, a little frontier village, where the olive is the queen as its name make understand. We then go back to France, a 2 hours climb drives us to The col de Brouis where will us a danish swept couple.
Col de Brouis / Peira Cava
Today, the low mountain range announces the big Alps by its relief, but keep the sweetness of the coast. The flora evolves permanently. The route sneaks on former communication routes and on recent tracks of exploitation in an amazing sightseeing. We thus come down in the morning towards the reduction in Levens, between the forests of broad-leaved trees which only hunters still know. Then appears the reduction in Figheira, where we join the GR52. We cross the village of Moulinet, pearl of the Nice countryside, before climbing quietly towards the first ski resort built in the French Riviera: Peïra Cava. A village of the beginning of the century when the ghosts begin to settle down there.
Peira Cava / Sainte-Agnès
Horses know the way by heart, it is usually the last day of the transhumance. The sea, at the end of the morning, appears as an objective of the ride, that of the evening. One day when tracks are transformed in adorable paths which smell) the pine and the hazelnut. The gaits of the afternoon lead us until Ségra, the last plateau before the mountain casts itself into the sea.
